history

who we are

One Sumter represents a community-wide initiative to support and enhance economic activity in Sumter County. Launched in 2014 as an ambitious capital campaign to support the work of the community’s existing economic development efforts, the One Sumter Economic Development Foundation, Inc., was birthed as a partnership between the Sumter County Development Authority and the Sumter County Chamber of Commerce.

With over 100 donors and investors in this grass-roots effort, One Sumter successfully raised $2.2 Million dollars within the first 12 months. A dynamic example of an aggressive public-private partnership, One Sumter is a five-year strategic growth initiative for Sumter County.

What we do

Dedicated to being a catalyst for change across Sumter County, One Sumter leverages the investment of its donors to build community collaboratives to tackle systemic challenges related to growth, economic development and workforce development. Bringing the business community, educators, public officials, faith-based organizations and non-profits together to focus on strategic initiatives and priorities that impact the entire community, the One Sumter Economic Development Foundation serves a unique role in supporting the economic vitality of all of Sumter County and its five municipalities—Americus, Andersonville, DeSoto, Leslie and Plains.
